And so do the American people.” President Obama THE PEOPLE apparently don’t matter. Manchin/Toomey background checks amendment voted down in the Senate, 54-46. Even with a majority, the bill has failed, and so has our Government for a change. 90% of Americans support stronger background checks.
Rand Paul Considering 2016 Presidential Bid; Planning Iowa Visits
Republican Sen. Rand Paul of Kentucky says he is considering a presidential campaign in 2016 but will not make a decision before next year. Paul says at a breakfast sponsored by The Christian Science Monitor that he wants to be part of the national debate and being considered a potential candidate gives him a “larger microphone” on issues. Paul plans to travel to early voting states of Iowa and New Hampshire this spring and South Carolina this summer as part of the process. Secret Service: Suspicious Letter Sent to President Obama, Link to Ricin Letter Investigated
A letter addressed to President Barack Obama that contained a “suspicious substance” has been intercepted at the White House’s off-site mail facility, a Secret Service spokesman said. Politico reports: The Secret Service said it was not immediately clear what the substance is. It is also not known whether there is a connection with the letter sent to Sen. Roger Wicker (R-Miss.) containing the toxic poison ricin that was detected Tuesday. Spokesman Edwin Donovan said the letter was received at the Secret Service’s White House mail screening facility, which examines all mail for the complex and is not located nearby. The facility, he said, “facility routinely identifies letters or parcels that require secondary screening or scientific testing before delivery.” CNN
